Letter 14 Brandy stacon February 7, 1864

“I will see them in halafax before I will i list again”

Dear Mother I received your letter and was glad to hear that you were all well at the present we are all well at present and hope that when these few lines com to hand may still find you in joying good health we had a very hard fight hear it com menced last satterday morning a bout three oclock and lasted till a stterday night late it was mostleay artilara fighting till about three oclock in the afternoon when the mosketry com menced and I think it was as heavy as ever I herd and I have herd som prety heavey it was about eight miles from camp and we cod hear it as plane as tho it was but won mile it was the first and second corp and cavelry that was in gaged a saterday and on saterday evening the third corps was sent out to reinforce them they wer in line of battel all day a sunday but there was not much fighting a sunday and in the evening the third corps returned to the camp it is all quiet now I dont no the rezult of the fight yet onley that we drove the rebels back hour regment was on picket and so they were near the fight you was saying that it was very cold there this winter we have had as nice a weter hear as ever I seen this time awinter we have not had but won little skift of snow this winter I hird you had a good slaying snow and that cate laft to hear the slaybells ring and she cold stand in stable well I bet if I had a bin ther she wold of cried in place of lafing well I heard that the fortey forth regiment was at home well I hope they will have a good time while they ar at home but I bet when they will have to go back to the fealed again it will not be so nice I have heard of some of the talk about the big fights that they have bin in but evy body that has red the papers now whot they have nod they wer never in nothing but a little schurming but iff they can keap out I dont blame them they ost not to gass a bout there big fighting when we woder that ehy have don it well there is some talk that keger is a gont to re in list this regment but you need not trubel yourself
