Grew up with the Arbogast family in Clark County, Ohio. Attended grammar school in Moorefield Township. Member of the Junior OUAM Lodge and the Methodist Protestant Church. Married Rebecca Ellen Morris in 1873.
Anna Belle McCollough
Mother of Alonzo. Lived in Cincinnati, employed as a housekeeper and dressmaker for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Received nearly all of the letters in this collection.
Betty McCullough
Born Betty Stout. Great-granddaughter of George Overpack. Transcribed the Civil War letters from the original handwritten pages. Kept a notebook of the family's 1966 Route 66 road trip — typed itinerary, expense ledgers, and diary observations.
George Overpack
Survived the war. Wounded June 15, 1863 at the Battle of Winchester. Mustered out with company June 25, 1865. Lived to age 87.

Great-great-grandson of John McColloch. The family genealogist and correspondent who traced the McCullough line back to Ireland.
