Letter 11 — March 15, 1868
“We have had Several Spellings Schools. This winter we have not been beat but once.”
I take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well at present and I hope when these few lines reach you they will find you the same, I do not know why you do not get our letters, we have sent two or three. I got that book that you sent me. Clark got out and run off. We have had Several Spellings Schools. This winter we have not been beat but once. Mr. Banes is our teacher. I have been at church today. Aunt Eliza and uncle Tom was there. I did not get no whipping the 12. I was born in the year (1852) eighteen fifty two. Well I must bring my letter to a close for this time, so goodbye. Write soon.
