I was very lonsome the day you went away I will try and raise some onions this summer, then I will expect you up this fall if nothing happens. I will stop writing and give my better half a chance. So good bye from your ever true friend, Ellie Mc. Write soon and except a kiss. Lon is laughing at my mistakes, I hope you will excuse them.

*Continued by Alonzo, February 25, 1874:*

I seat myself to inform you that we are well. We have not got moved yet, I guess we will get to move week after next if nothing happens. George is going to move to Jerry's. I asked at the office for them papers but there was none there. Ellie's folks have to move away, they only got notice yesterday that he wanted the house. They do not know where they will go. I have been buying some poultry, since you left I bought 21 turkeys and 24 ducks and 25 chickens. I cleared $5.49 and have 11 chickens left yet. I guess I will keep them for that is about as cheap as I can get them for nothing. I have bought me a colt, she will be four years old this spring. I paid one hundred and fifty dollars for her, she is well broke to work or drive to the buggy. Well I believe I have wrote all the news for this time, so good bye. My love to Mr King. Write soon.
