Letter 12 Baltimore Sept the 8, 1863

“If I cant come home honerbal I dont want to come a tall”

Dear Mother I receved your letter and was glad to hear that you were all well at present we are boath well at present you wanted to no why we did not com hom the resen why we did not come we cod not get a furlow you sed that there was som at home out of our regiment I no that there is but they wodent a got home if they had not run a way and that I will not do if I dont get home a tall If I cant come home honerbal I dont want to come a tall I think that the regiment will be here in a weak or too but if they dont come too it and then I think that can get too come home we will be payed this weak I wold like to no whether you got that money we sent you be fore the fight and hour over cots we sent them to (?) you wanted to no how the rebels yoused us when we were prisoners they took Math swach and fifteen dolers in money and his hat and his finger rings and some of them wanted to strip him of his close but there was some that wodent let them they honely give us too meals a day and that was sour bred and a little beaf in the morning and bread and sometimes beansoop for diner and som days we did not get nothing but bread but there ware some youen weamen there that brought som things in a most every day if it hadnt a bin for them I dont now how we wold a got a long we lost every thing that we had well I most bring my letter to a close so no more at present but remaned yours til deth right as son as you get this letter
