Letter 22 — Campet near Pertersburg, June the 20, 1864
“we seen a lot of won hundred day men hear form Ohio they think they have a very hard times they have bin laying in camp all the time”
Dear Mother It is with mucn plesner I take my seat to wright you a few line to let you no that we ar all well at present well we have not had eny fighting to do since we left cole borber we left there sunday tne 12 and crost the chickahorneny river and went to the Mames river and there we got on the boat and went up the James river 12 mile to cittey point where we left the James river to the right and went up the appomatox to point of rox where we got of the boat and marched a bout too miles to the front we seen a lot of won hundred day men hear form Ohio they think they have a very hard times they have bin laying in camp all the time they have not had eny fighting to do they have had to work on the forts and brest works I seen John Goderd the uther day his health is very good well I have not got but too letters from you since we left camp you must not of rote eny more or they have not come we get the male a bout fore times a week well I dont think this wor can last very long eny more we have ogt every railrod cut that runs to Richman but won and I dont no but that won is cut bey this time there has not bin much fighting for a few days onely with artillery well I must close for this time no more at present but remane yous un till death
