Dear Muther I just receved you leter ov the 15 and was glad to here that you wase well I am well at present and hope these few lines may find you enjoying the same god blesing to day is tne first male we have had since we left Bereyvill I rit to you a bout a weak a go and told you about the fite at Winchester and at Strasburg we run the rebs over a hundred miles and we stoped the rebs are still a runing too days we followed them so clost that we ease a scirmishing with thete rear gard all the time we wod run the artilery up and shell them as far as they could and then they wood run up on them a gone and that waye we cep them a going they rebs onley had too or thre peses of artilery left we got 27 peases of thete artilery at Winchester and Strasburge the report is now that we will fall back to Winchester in a few days the cavelrey is ordered to burn all the mills and barns in this voley for revenge for Chambers Burge that the rebs burned in Pensylvana last sumer there was a order red to this morning that they had whiped the rebs at pertersburge and wase marching on to Richmand I think that Richmand will hafta fall son George is back at Winchester yet he hase a nise time of it he got shut ove some hard marching well muther I must close for this time as the male will go out in a few minets from yore afecionet sun
