Dear Muther It is with much pleashure that I take my seat this morni ng to let you now that I am still a live and well I supose you will here ove the fight we have had before you get this on the morning ove the 19 the rebs ataced the 8 and the 19 corps before they got out ove bed and drive them back some ove them hadnt time to get ther shores and there hats on the rebs got a grate meney prisners ove the 8 and 19 corps and some artilerey the Sixth Corps was soone formed and redey fore them we hade tofall back a bout too miles and formed ower lines about 12 oclock the rebs charged on the sixth Corps and wase repulst there wase hevey scirmishing all a long the line untle fore oclock the sixth Corps charged on them and routed them and folowd them up so clost that they coodent get the arttrey and prisners a way that they got from us in the morning we folowed them till dark and then the cavelrey piched in to them and run them all night we got all the artilery back that they got frome us and 50 ove thers and 100 ove ther wagins and a bout 3 thousand prisners bsides all ther wonded in ower regiment we had 30 kild and wonded Six kild 24 wonded in Co I we had 1 man kild and 4 wonded John Petry wase kild the wonded is Ezrey Haris James Kelley Henrey Kaufman Smith Metcalf Smith wase wonded in the left sholder George is back at winchest yet he wase well the last I herd frome him I here frome him every thre or fore days it has ben a long time sence I have had a leter frome you I look fore wone this afternoon as the male will come up when they cume up with rashins well I must close fore this time if I get a leter frome you this after noon I wil rite some more frome your sun Mathew Overpack Well Muther yore leter ove the 13 just came to hand I wase sorey to here of Nancey a being un well I hope and trust when this comes to hand it may find you all enjoying good helth I will have a chance to send yore leter to George in the morning I just roievd a leter frome Rabca Sturgeon they ayre all well well I must clos as the male is just a going out rite sown M Overpack
