Letter 36 Camp near Petersburge VA, March 27th, 1865

“Felix you must be a good boy and lurn to read til I cum home”

Dear Muther Yore leter on the 16th just came to hand I wase glad to here that you wase wel I am well at present and hope when these few lines cum to hand it will find you enjoying the same blesing well muther we had a litel mus with the Rebs on the 25th of this month we got a bout Three Thousend prizners we had one man kild and too wonded in the Campaney Armey Griffith wase kild David King and Wm Wise wase wonded Will wasewonded in the right arm there wase 4 kild and 17 wonded in the regament the last I herd from George he wase well he is at Sitey Point yet a duing dutey at the 6th Corps Hospitel he hase a good plase thare and in no danger I am a going to right to him to day for I expect he will be oneasey a bout me I here from him a bout twist a weak Felix you must be a good boy and lurn to read til I cum home my time wil be out in six month and them I will bye you a sadel and bridl and then you can ride yore colts we have verey fine wether here now well muther I must close fore this time my love to you all rite soon from you afecionate sun Mathew Overpack
