Letter 60 June 3, 1877

“You ought to see Lon and his two girls on the porch, he is as proud as if he owned the farm”

I seat myself to let you know we are all well but Ellie, she still has rheumatism. We are needing rain here very bad, corn is looking bad, I had to plant one field over. We had lemonade and strawberries last night we would liked for you to have been here.

*(Ellie writes:)* Well I guess I will have to finish Lon says he has written all he knows. Well Elva can talk and Cora can crawl. Lon and Elva goes to Sunday School. I want you to come up as soon as you can but stay longer than for common. We have a little cleaner place to live. I have commenced another rag carpet. Come up and we will live on chicken and pot pie, Lon has learned me how to bake them, we are going to have one tomorrow. You ought to see Lon and his two girls on the porch, he is as proud as if he owned the farm, he talks of taking his mule to the fair. What has become of Mr King? Well I will close by asking you to write sooner, then we have our love to you and Mr King.
