Letter 54 July the 8th, 1876

“Lon is cutting his wheat now. It is the best in the neighborhood.”

I seat myself to answer your kind letter that came to hand some time ago. Lon is cutting his wheat now. It is the best in the neighborhood. I have some news to tell you. We have another daughter, it is a week old today. It was born the last day of June and weighs 8 pounds. I am getting along very well but Lon is not feeling well. He had a chill last night. Elva received her money and is much obliged. We will put some to it and get her a little rocking chair. That is something she can keep. Her pa weighed her today and she weighs 22. Grandpa was buried last Sabbath the 2nd of July. Nan's man is trying to run things now, he is worse that some woman in the baby way. Fannie's baby has very poor health. Well, as I can think of nothing more to write I will close. Our love to Mr King and yourself. Write soon. Elva sends a kiss.
