“Elva has been sick, we thought she would have to die”

I seat myself to answer your kind letter that came to hand some time ago, you must excuse us for not writing sooner. This leaves us well excepting my heart is bothering me by times. Elva has been sick, we thought she would have to die, the doctor thought it was Spinal Fever but it was not, we think it was worms. She was taken about 10 o'clock and at 3 she went into spasms and lasted till 10 at night. Lon's hands has been very sore, he is digging potatoes now. We made 10 gallons of apple butter last Friday, as the layer said they have strifed the orchard. Cal has took May and Jennie has sued Nan for working for her when she was sick last fall. Nan and Louisa has almost fit since you was here. Well I must tell you Lide Wallace is married, she married a man with 4 children, also Hester Foley and Ed McConkey well received them stockens and are much oblige. You ought to see our baby, she is so fat and has got to be real good. We will get her picture for you before long.
